Seems a little weird for someone who uses a subscription service like Rhapsody to use an iPhone, but for those of you who prefer the RealNetworks offering but still want the iPhone, your time is coming. RealNetworks has submitted an app to Apple for approval that will let you access your Rhapsody ToGo account and stream your tunes over WiFi, Edge or 3G. Check out the demo video for the app below.

Obviously, the approval process is the largest hurdle Rhapsody will have to jump. Apple might not like the competitor to the iTunes Music Store on their devices. Some people have pointed out that Apple approved an app for the Pandora music service, but that in no way implies Rhapsody has a free pass. Apple has been anything but consistent with its approval process. Still, the app looks pretty polished and if RealNetworks can kiss Steve Jobs’ feet enough this thing just might hit the app store soon.
