Amazon & Wal*Mart Follow Suit, Raise Song Prices
Yesterday we reported that iTunes has officially restructured their prices, raising prices on songs you actually want (and lowering them for tracks you'll never actually buy). Amazon and Walmart are also following the trend, charging more (or less) per track. Basically, all the major ways to get music legally now cost more. On the other hand, my music tastes are a little obscure, so this could prove profitable for my pocketbook. (Not likely).Let's take a gander at the new pricing structure. They're basically all the same, offering the more "valuable" songs for $1.29-ish and rock-bottom prices of under a dollar (Wal-Mart bargain bin tracks as low as 64 cents).
